So many governors, so little time

It was like a walk through the history books at the Sandia Resort and Casino Tuesday night. Govs. Bill Richardson, Bruce King, Toney Anaya and Jerry Apodaca got together in a Democratic Party "Unity Event."

Richardson spoke the longest at the podium after an invite-only mixer. (At least I think it was a mixer, but party officials kept the doors sealed on what ever the pre-event was.)

While thanking Democrats for supporting him in his presidential campaign, he looked ahead to what is his next campaign -- a special session for health care in August or September.

“Help me persuade the Legislature that every New Mexican has the right to universal health care, no matter who they are,” he said.

My favorite part was seeing King, charming and as affable as ever. He was received by the crowd with hugs and kisses, as loved as the day he was governor.

Party chairman Brian Colon said money raised at the shindig will be used to help Democrats in this fall's campaigns. No word on how much was raised, however.
