Word from Albuquerque as of 2:45 p.m. is that counting of the more than 16,000 provisional ballots has not started, as representatives from all sides want to agree on ground rules first. That sounds like a very bipartisanly idea, one that could avoid fist fights later.
Here's how Trevor FitzGibbon with the Obama campaign summed it up just now:
“The campaigns and the New Mexico Democratic Party are working together to make sure that the system for processing the provisional ballots is transparent and fair, and that all New Mexicans who voted have their vote counted,” he said.
Anyway, I said yesterday it would be a long night. I think that's going to apply to tonight, as well. Counting is at the REDW firm in the Duke City.
Update, 4:56 p.m. Counting hasn't started yet. The party has until Feb. 15 to certify the results of the election.
